Founder | CEO
Kelly MacGaunn is the founder and CEO of kelleemack pr (KMPR), as well as its recently launched sister company, kelleemack media. Her hands-on approach to public relations has established her firm as a sought-after PR entity.
She has spent the past two decades delivering all-encompassing public relations, social media, and digital marketing strategies for everything from music to nonprofits, lifestyle brands, entertainment entities, and new product launch events.
KMPR clients have included Mötley Crüe, Jimmy Eat World, Papa Roach, Rob Zombie, and Jurassic 5.
MacGaunn dives into each campaign drawing from her vast experience, long-term relationships with the media, and innovative communication plans tailored to the respective client's needs and goals. She has continuously generated placements for her clients in top late-night and morning television shows; national, syndicated and trade print publications; and online and radio outlets. The execution always leads to the elevation of the brand and a dramatic increase in awareness.
In addition to helming her firm, MacGaunn has served as a senior publicist at Bobbi Marcus PR & Events Inc. for over 23 years, securing national media coverage and spearheading press conferences, overseeing red carpets, media rooms, grand openings, product launches, gifting suites, and more (ASCAP, BET Awards, Jazz Foundation of America (JFA), and Wise Music Group). She has also teamed up with Fran DeFeo on several projects (Joss Stone, Dave Stewart, Indya Stewart, and Iris Gold) and worked with Subterranean Media (Pitbull, Daughtry, MAGIC!, and Zoé) and MAD Ink PR (X, Joe Satriani, Paul Stanley, and She Rocks Awards) for six years.
Her PR career began while a student at California State University, Northridge, interning at Marketing Factory Inc./Ink, assisting on clients 50 First Dates soundtrack, 30 Seconds to Mars, Switchfoot, Kill Bill Vol. 2 soundtrack, etc., spearheading her fanzine/blog and reviewing, interviewing and photographing artists in and around Los Angeles on her days off. Upon graduation, she was hired part-time at MFI Ink on clients Social Distortion, Incubus, the Honda-sponsored Civic Tour, The One Tree Hill Tour, and others, and launched her PR career in the entertainment industry as a media relations coordinator.
MacGaunn has been honored to speak about public relations at California State University, Fullerton, and at her alma mater, California State University, Northridge, where she was also asked to serve on the PR Advisory Council Department of Journalism and assess the 2017-18 public relations curriculum. She currently serves as a PR mentor for CSUN's PRSSA Mentorship Program and is taking accelerated college courses in the UCLA Extension certification program (fall 2023 through summer 2024).
