Robin DiMaggio is a musical force to be reckoned with. Known as one of the world's premiere drummers and classical/world percussionists, Robin is also a highly skilled songwriter, composer, conductor, arranger, producer, engineer, and instrumentalist on the piano, bass, and saxophone.
Robin has toured and recorded with veterans such as Paul Simon, David Bowie, Jackson Browne, Diana Ross, Tupac, Dr. Dre, Luther Vandross, Lil Jon, Martina McBride, Daft Punk, Johnny Cash, and Chris Isaak, as well as with acclaimed world musicians, sitarist/composer Ravi Shankar and violin maestro L. Shankar. He has also appeared on David Letterman and has performed at the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, World Music Awards in Monte Carlo, and the MTV Music Awards.
Having traveled extensively from an early age, Robin’s music incorporates rhythms and sounds from diverse cultures throughout the world. Robin has recorded three solo albums: Blue Planet on favored Nations, a musical tribute to his world travels, Music for All Seasons, a collection of lush, provocative, and emotional piano melodies in collaboration with the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and Café du Cinéma, a larger than life cinematic soundtrack. In addition, Robin has released a drum training DVD, Planet Groove, in collaboration with Hal Leonard, in English and French.
The vast array of influences in Robin's life have made him a charismatic ambassador of the arts. For the fifth straight year, Robin has been assigned the returning position of Music Director for the United Nations, where one of his many responsibilities includes coordinating musical guests for the official General Assembly Summit in New York City each September at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria. Robin produced and performed at the first President of the General Assembly’s 68th Session for President Ash and Secretary General Ban Ki Moon annual concert on June 6, 2014, at the General Assembly.
On September 9, 2013, Robin took the role of Musical Director and drummer for late night TV’s Arsenio Hall Show on CBS Syndication. He has since performed with Nelly, Flo Rida, R. Kelly, Billy Ray Cyrus, Gladys Knight, and Earth Wind and Fire, to name a few. Prior to Arsenio, Robin was the house band drummer on the CW’s hit game show Oh Sit and TBS’ Lopez Tonight, hosted by George Lopez, where he has played with incredible guest artists including Slash, Carlos Santana, Jamie Foxx, Puff Daddy, Emilio Estefan, Hector Elizondo, Andrew Dice Clay, Andy Garcia, Lucrecia, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Steel Magnolias, David Guetta, Charlie Wilson, Beth Hart, Los Lobos, George Clinton and Justin Bieber, John Legend, Sergio Mendez, 50 Cent, P. Diddy, and Snoop Dogg.
In 2010, Robin helped release Earthsong, a CD compilation of tracks from top artists in every country around the world. Spearheaded under the United Nations and Humanitad.org, Earthsong is part of a larger effort to save the environment and promote world peace. As the senior producer, Robin coordinated "one hundred and ninety-two world artists, one hundred and ninety-two songs, and seven world-music albums in a united campaign with one world message: no more war."
Robin was personally hired by Cardinal Poupard from the Vatican to oversee the Cathredalia (the largest rock opera written for the SEA Vatican) in Rome, Italy.
On the production front, Robin worked with Don Felder (formerly of the Eagles) on his current album, Road to Forever, and Stephen Bishop’s new album, Be Here Then.
Robin has some incredible projects in the works, as he is in the preliminary stages of his new vision — the first U.N. School of Art, Culture and Music in Southern California.
